How do you clean sunglasses without scratching them?
By Dirk en Nick ·
First rinse the glasses with lukewarm water, use a drop of dish soap, pat dry with a microfiber cloth and store the glasses in a case. Never dry polish them with your shirt.

Clean your sunglasses by first rinsing the lenses with lukewarm water, washing them with a drop of mild dish soap between your fingers, rinsing again, and blotting dry with a clean microfiber cloth. Never wipe them dry with your shirt: sand and dust act like sandpaper.
Why do sunglasses scratch so easily?
Almost always from dry wiping. Fine grains of sand and dust settle on the lenses. If you rub them around with a cloth or paper, you create tiny scratches that you only notice in bright light.
What should you never use?
- Kitchen paper, tissues, and napkins: the fibers are coarser than they seem.
- Glass cleaner, alcohol, or acetone: these can damage coatings and plastic frames.
- Hot water: this can loosen coatings and the adhesive in the frame.
How is it best to store your sunglasses?
In a case, with the lenses facing up when it is briefly on the table. Never leave them on the dashboard: the heat behind the windshield can warp the frame. Sliding them on and off your head will eventually stretch out the temples.
What kind of case do you get with Shadeclub?
Every pair of glasses comes with a flat folding case made of vegan leather. When empty, it is so thin that it fits in your trouser pocket; when filled, it protects your glasses in your bag, jacket pocket, or locker. This way, you always have it with you, even when the glasses are on your nose.
